Member Tagging

This page will review how admins can set up and utilize member tagging to enhance their member’s matching experience.

What is Member Tagging?

Member tags create member subgroups within your Intros club. You can create & assign tags automatically (based on matching rules) and/or manually. You can manage matching between sub-groups of users by adding matching rules between specific tags.

Matching rules based on member tags create hard matching rules. This means that the matching rules must be met in order for members to have any potential to match, regardless of other question weights on the matching form.

Member tags will be visible to admins on the “Members” tab, but members themselves will not see manually created tags.

Automatically Create Member Tags

Member tags and matching rules are automatically created when utilizing certain matching rules for single select and multiple choice questions. Matching rules that will automatically create tags out of member answers are:

  1. Matching within Sub-Groups: This matching rule tells the algorithm that any two members must share at least 1 common answer to be compatible. This is designed for matching members within the same Cohorts or courses. Members are then “tagged” with their answer, and will only be able to match if they share at least one member tag.
  2. Match across Sub-Groups tells the algorithm that any two members must have at least 1 differing answer to be compatible. This is designed for matching members across different cohorts or employees across divisions or teams. Members are then “tagged” with their answer, and will only be able to match if they do not share any tags.

Manually Create Member Tags

Admins can manually create member tags and assign them to certain members:

  1. Head to the Settings tab, and add a member tag
  2. Check it out

Note: Manually created member tags can be edited & deleted at any point (see “Remove” lit up in the red box above). Automatically created cannot, since they are tied to specific questions & answers on the matching form and member profiles.

  3. Scroll down the settings page, and add a matching rule
  4. Check it out

  5. Head to the Members Page, and add tags to specific members
  6. Check it out

Select “Update tags” and add to any member you’d like:

Once you add a tag, it will show up next to a member’s name:

You will also see all existing members with the same tag:

Editing Member Tags & Matching Rules

Automatically created member tags cannot be edited or deleted in the settings tab, since they are tied to the matching form & member profiles. However, admins have the ability to disable member tagging rules at any time, which means the algorithm will stop taking them into account.
